Pattern Development Update

Last month, I shared a quilt mock-up in a guest post on Quilter’s Candy, and it sparked quite a buzz! Many of you reached out eager to know more about the pattern. Since then, we’ve been hard at work crafting the pattern and managing all the behind-the-scenes details to bring it to life.

Here’s the quilt mockup if you missed it!

Currently, the pattern is in the testing phase and I’m excited to soon unveil the “Flying Geese in Summer Winds” quilt pattern in October 2025. It will be available in three sizes. Right now, I am searching for a shorter, catchier name to capture the feelings of freedom and unity that I see within the design.

This quilt pattern is the second in our series inspired by the African proverb, “If you want to go fast, go alone; but if you want to go far, go together.” Much like quilting, it emphasizes teamwork, creativity, and a sense of community. The design features a mix of Facing Flying Geese and Summer Winds blocks, creating a swirl that’s perfect for sunny summer days or for keeping cozy during cooler months.

The quilt design blends elements of both Ghanaian culture and American quilting with a modern approach. The standard 1:2 ratio American Geese soar within the Summer Winds blocks, while 1:6 ratio Flying Geese swirl around them. The dark green Facing Flying Geese in the design symbolize a traditional Ghanaian stool, often seen in Kente cloth.
